Ramesh Mamdapurkar is a Senior Assistant Professor at the MIT Academy of Engineering (MITAOE), Pune, with over 20 years of professional experience in industrial design, product development, and innovation across the medical devices, water treatment, automotive, and academic sectors. He holds a Master of Design (M.Des.) from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Delhi) and specializes in design thinking, sustainable product design, advanced CAD modeling, prototyping, and systems design.
Before joining academia, he led the design and development of award-winning medical devices, successfully commercialized multiple products for global markets, and contributed to several patented innovations. His expertise bridges industry and education, enabling students to transform ideas into functional prototypes through hands-on learning, Arduino-based embedded systems, and digital manufacturing technologies. He is passionate about fostering creativity, innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and user-centered design while mentoring future product designers and innovators equipped to address real-world challenges.
